Between October and March, almost every campus in the country throws its doors open. Pro-nights, hackathons, dance battles, quiz finals, food streets: if you plan it right, fest season is the best part of the academic year. If you do not, it is a blur of missed deadlines and sold-out passes.
Start with a shortlist, not a wishlist
Browse what is coming up in your city and the next one over, then pick three or four fests you genuinely care about. Look at the event list, not just the headline artist. A fest with a strong hackathon or a debate final you want to win is worth more than a big name you will watch from the back.
- Filter by city and category so you only see what you can actually attend
- Save the fests you are considering, so their dates stay in one place
- Check whether events are open to all colleges or intra-college only
Register early, especially for team events
Registration deadlines usually close a few days before the fest itself, and popular events cap their teams. Team events need everyone signed up under one team, so sort out your squad first and register together.

Budget for more than the pass
Entry fees are only part of it. Add travel, food and the merch you will definitely buy. A simple rule that works: set aside one and a half times the total of your registration fees.
Pace yourself
The best fest memories rarely come from the busiest day. They come from the event you nearly skipped.
Leave gaps between big days, keep your college ID and your registration confirmation on your phone, and go in with a plan for getting home. Then enjoy it.
